Watercolor on Arches cold-pressed, 22" x 30", July 2010.This wooden buddha has been a fixture at my local stupa for several years now. One day while hiking past I managed to snap a photo at just the right time of day for some beautiful lighting. This is a much larger painting than I generally do (full sheet!) so it was quite an undertaking. But despite all of the many MANY hours it took, I feel I really got it right in this.

This is well and truly magnificent. The dark values are so beautiful and clean and luminous. That must have took so much discipline, to leave them alone and not fiddle...
