All in all very good drawing and work with shadows, but as for me she isn't much alike Billie in Doctor Who.

May i ask how long did it take to draw her.
Boredom often creates great art. But this is focused, this has composition and a soft, clear, crisp shading to it. HB pencil or B ?
Consider doing lots of sketches when you are bored, instead of full done works like this. Why? Because from those sketches you can learn 20 new things, while in one complete drawn you might find far less. Always focus on the position of the face while sketching. And never be afraid to use as much reference as you can. When you get the knacks of shading of the face, you can see how easy it goes.
Though i have a feeling that this went easy for you, seeing as to how great it ended up. Keep on drawing!
~Crolossus Take some notes from this, and see how she does it.

That's a lot of pencils used i must say. Consider going only with HB or the highest B. Cuz, if you want your hand to be fluent, you should always go with HB. Its like maxing out a level with HB, then going with B and B1 and so on. Why? Because managing different types of graphite can make way too much difference for your hand and for your drawings. H pencils are mostly for sketching or shading areas that B or HB cannot do well.
The position of the head should be sketched out in a circle, adding 2 lines like a cross, the center of the cross should be as to where the nose is. Or the mouth, depending on the position of the face /sideways or front. Using other references for instance not of the same face, but other faces of the same position can help you figure out the composition of the face/ergo the shading that can be done.
don't worry about not being pleased with the work. You learn from your mistakes, and those artworks that you are not pleased with, keep them safe so that you can compare on how well you did over the course of your drawing career. Practice more with composition on the face.

This should explain on what i mean.
No problem. Keep on drawing!

To be honest I don't like the idea of restricting myself by any means in art of all things, because I believe that in art one should have as much freedom he or she wants. I also believe experiments are welcome if not necessary while drawing as they help you develop your own style and let you figure out exactly how you wish your drawing to look like.
I am actually well aware of the fact that pencils with harder leads are mostly used for sketching while softer ones are used for shading and darker areas. I like to use H pencils in areas that are ment to stay bright (in this case it was hair) so as to keep myself from doing it wrong (I like to consider it as a sort of practice, the one you do when you are not entirely confident in your skills). I am a lot more careful with B pencils as my drawings tend to get out of hand and quickly become dark and unclear.
What I think you misunderstood is that this was not a sketch. I drew it using a reference photo.
As for the sketching, I am quite unsure of my capability to draw anything without having seen it before as I do not have any experience in that domain. I appreciate your advices however it is higly unlikely that I will draw anything without the use of a reference photo in the near future. You see, when I draw imperfection is not an option. I realize it is unrealistic of me to expect perfect drawings every time I draw but it is quite difficult to change myself in such a short period time.
I also realize I need a lot of practice and a lot of studying to finally become the kind of artist I aspire to be, however as I am quite busy with school at the moment I am afraid any kind or progress will be arduous and exceedingly slow.
I hope to create something new very soon, however it will most likely be a cosplay prop instead of a drawing
