Description the serendipitous moments
are fleeting from my mind
to reveal the saline
roots of an insecure ego.

when survival means self-interest,
how can altruism exist?
acts of generosity and compassion become nothing more
than selfish motives.

where is the silver lining
in id's cloud?
or am i doomed to the dull grey
of nature's crushing reality?

I love the Freudian psychology included in this, very nicely done. Very original as well, a beautifully done poem.

I kinda agree....at fist I thought it was a typo...then I thought you were talking about the Id from "The Maxx" on MTV a long time ago....Then I kinda made the connection with frued's theory, but went right back to "The Maxx" cause it made me more confused.

All that being said....you know I love your work...this is no different.

freud divided our mind into three parts- ego, super ego and id... id is the part that relates to our most primal instincts/surival.. it dictates the "animal" in us...at least, this is how i understand the id..
