Description This is Seedy, a character from an old, but extremely funny and entertaining computer game called Toonstruck.

If any Toonstruck fans ever see this drawing, I hope they would shed some tears of tender emotion while recalling the fun and humor of that underrated masterpiece...

Toonstruck belongs to Virgin Entertainment (if I'm not mistaken)

When I first saw this scene, I couldn't help but burst out laughing - and you drew him really well. Hopefully with the Steam re-release of the game this game will get more attention.

It took me until I finished the puzzle to realize that he was actually wearing that tutu the whole time he was behind the desk and didn't just change into it out of nowhere.

There are only 15 pics with the tag Toonstruck on DA.

This deeply saddens me.

I think I have *heard of* this game... I remember it being mentioned on TV Tropes, but I can't find that reference again, I'm afraid. Also, I found a place you can download a video of the entire game... I tried it, but it's TOO FRIGGIN' HUGE - and I would've had it if I hadn't had a random disconnect in the middle of downloading it, too. Maybe some other time...

But you wouldn't happen to have heard of Stupid Invaders, the video game loosely based on Space Goofs? Seedy reminds me a lot of one of the minor characters from it... if Toonstruck is as old as you say, I wouldn't be surprised if the people at Xilam were inspired by it, plus it sounds like if you like Space Goofs, you'll love Toonstruck, and vice versa.

I love his pose in this drawing, btw, especially the way he tugs at his skirt

Ixytrick In reply to Kaffles [2009-11-15 20:15:43 +0000 UTC]

Yes,I know of it. I found some videos from Stupid Invaders when searching for Space Goofs videos. It's 3D. Toonstruck was 2D.

I cannot say whether Xilam were inspired particularly by Toonstruck. There were a lot of computer games of that type at that time (The Curse of Monkey Island, Leisure Suit Larry 7, etc.). Every one of them could or couldn't be the source of inspiration for Stupid Invaders.

Kaffles In reply to Ixytrick [2009-11-15 20:25:37 +0000 UTC]

Hmm, I see... all I know is, from what little I was able to watch of Toonstruck, it seems as if it and Stupid Invaders had a similar "adventure game that looks cute and cartoony, but isn't really intended for kids" thing going on. Perhaps it *was* just a coincidence... as was Seedy's uncanny resemblance to Nelson (the bunny suit guy).

Ixytrick In reply to Kaffles [2009-11-15 20:39:15 +0000 UTC]

Yeah, all the BEST adventure games as well as all the best cartoons were either NOT intended for children or at least suitable for the whole family.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Kaffles In reply to Ixytrick [2009-11-15 21:06:44 +0000 UTC]

And the best ones that ARE intended for children have a lot of hidden jokes for adults to get, like Animaniacs, Rocko's Modern Life and, indeed, Space Goofs. Heck, I'm 19 and some of the sex jokes in SG are so subtle that *I* had to have them pointed out to me

I've never heard of the game, but I love older computer games- especially ones with characters as awesome looking as this guy is - so I'll be sure to check it out!

The compostion on this is really great; I love how the cigar smoke wraps around the picture 8D

How nice that you became interested in that game. I only can quote the popular saying: "The don't make such stuff anymore!"

However there is, of course, some other good sftuff.

Sadly, as the barrier of bad news, I DON'T know about this.

But, Seedy is epic win! I mean, a tough fat guy in a ballerina suit! XD That settles everything right there.

I thank you for introducing me to "Toonstruck" now I've heard of it, and would like to play this game. Yaaay underrated stuff! 8D

Ixytrick In reply to oddballkimin [2009-11-14 15:44:15 +0000 UTC]

It's allright. Very few know about this game. And it is too old already. I played it when I was 11 or 12. (Now I'm 22).

A tough guy in a ballerina suit is nothing in comparison to the way he plays bowling. I still laugh when recalling his "special teqnique".
There were a lot of funny moments and characters.

Thank you for your comment and support!

Yep! 22! To be more precise, I turn 22 next week.

Be sure to pay attention to the small purple character called Flux Wildly. He's funny.

To spread underrated love? How nice. Somehow it's also typical of me.
