In which I belatedly realize that Arcee is less than half of Optimus’ height [link] . Kind of big for an archivist, aren’t you Optimus?Which is always something that tugs at the plot line - in most of his previous incarnations, the Matrix of Leadership jump-starts Orion’s growth spurt. Transformers Prime, on the other hand, shows Orion rivalling Megatron’s gladiator build.
Maybe he needs a big frame to case all that brain. I can sit happy with that.

Apparently, Optimus Prime is one of the Thirteen Original Primes. After the defeat of Unicron during the Thirteen's reign and Solus Prime's death, Optimus decided to enter the well of All-Sparks in order to become a lesser Cybertronian to better understand their plight. Thus, Orion Pax was born. When Primus gave him the matrix, his dormant memories as a Prime returned.
So, in the Prime/Aligned continuity, he was Optimus Prime before he was Orion Pax, then Optimus Prime again. It could explain why as an archivist, he was quite large. His original function wasn't to be an Archivist at all.

You beat me to the punch! Guess im not the only one who has the covenant of Primus ;D. Very good description of it though! I think it [SPOILERS] definetly makes things interesting....considering him and Megatronus were so close..it could explain why he is so hesitant to remove Megatron's spark because he so closely resembles his brother and most likely is due to so many similiarities including that of his fusion cannon. It is just so interesting....I wish they would go into it more considering how VAGUE Alpha Trion's descriptions were in the freaking book.

This is quite true. He is unbelievably big for an archivist. When I first started watching the show, one of the big things that stood out to me was the height difference between Arcee and Optimus.

M8 thats tall enough. I'm 5,9 and theres no problem here. The issue of transformers is that unlike Humans the size differences are far more noticable.

From what I understand there were a few bots (few as in maybe a couple hundreds) on Cybertron that were of that size & stature. They towered over others & were seen as powerful cybertronions, aka Megatron being a Gladiator. But it is kinda confusing that Orion was that big B4 he became Optimus :/ Any who nice artwork, though Arcee's expression & dialogue is... misleading
