You do NOT totally suck at shading. I'd work more on anatomy if I were you; your shading is phenomenal. I'm no professional and pony art has a lot of preferences with it, so my anatomical suggestion is merely because it doesn't quite look like the show, and it's not a style that interests me personally.

I like the style of it myself... the soft focus and the simple shading combine to give it a unique look.
