In this, I had Gamzee in mind as Jafar and Karkat as the Genie because Eridan and Karkat being best friends.
I dunno about the monkey though. But that's just my version and there are many versions of this au.

yeah I think we chose Sollux as Jafar because we kinda saw him as the one who "got in the way" of Eridan and Feferi becoming a thing, and I think we chose John as the Genie because we couldn't think of anyone else at the time (and the genie's blue I think that had something to do with it) I think we might have had someone for the monkey, like a lusus or something, but I can't really remember who
