Colored sketch for my owl priestess character costume. I wanted to focus more on the wise, lonely and mysterious aspects of the owl and her association with the moon and crone goddess in some mythologies. This owl is the priestess of her territory. She watches over the forest at night and is aware of all happenings within it. She helps to maintain spritual order and balance among the other inhabitants. She knows all the songs, all the spells, and all the old stories. No one can dance in her woods until she has done her evening sweep and cast a magic circle. She is also the silent bringer of death. When it is time to pass, she comes swiftly and assists in a merciful transition. She is quiet, strict and fair. She is a fierce protector to all to who honor the sacred woods, but misbehave in her forest and she will eat you!
