A response I guess.I see a lot of people who have the "if you fave, comment" stamps in their artists comments who don't respond when you actually do.

Oh this irks the living crap out of me. I hate it when people ask me to keep an eye on their work or comment as if their work is the most important out there, then they either won't comment on mine or give half-arsed comments that basically mean they're not interested.

I respond to almost all of my comments (though I respond to some later than others). The only time I don't respond to comments is when my message inbox is filled with them and I don't have the time to respond (which hasn't happened to me in 3 months).

It was really bad a few years back when you would literally have these really popular users whining in their journals about how no one ever commented or how they valued a comment so much more than a +fav, and then you'd scroll down on their submissions and realize that almost none of the comments had any responses. I don't seem to notice it as much any more

It makes me think how some drawings, say "Comment before you favourite", but the comments don't get responded to, regardless. I can understand, if the comment is either just gibberish/doesn't make sense, but if it's an compliment, critique or sometimes a question, I think that's quite selfish.

I mean, if you're not going to reply to comments or if you're going to act like they're a bother, you might as well disable them entirely.

They just want all the asspat comments to gather on their deviations as a sign of how awesome they are. I know one member who hides all negative or non-asspat comments on her deviations

I actually have a, "Don't thank for a fav of any kind" stamp on my journal in plain sight yet I still get "DANKE JOO 4 FAVING DIS" and I only respond to the interestingly done comments.
Not being mean though but seriously, fav is a compliment as said.
