Description
Remember how great instruction manuals used to be? They were like little story books. I loved the illustrations for Mario 2, so I decided to embellish the character art from it a bit. I think I may do a painted version from the Zelda II manual next. I typically don't like to hang my own artwork in my home, but this is sort of a compromise because it's so heavily inspired (recreated really) by the original art. This is acrylic on a 16x20 canvas.Prints and more are available here:

I loved the manuals, when I was a kid! 
DANG this is so impressive! I could NEVER do something that impressive with paints! I'm not an extremely patient person and I learned from my painting classes that painting requires a lot of patience.

Wonderful. You've recreated the four character's official artwork nicely. The painting looks great and you've captured of the essence of SMB2 very well. I also love you chose to show some of the table around it, like the paint palette to the right. Nice work!

This is absolutely incredible! Everything about this is nostalgic, and it's like the world of Subcon has come to life! I love how your clouds and rocks came out. I see some of the inspiration reminds me of All-Stars' take on the old backgrounds, but it really does look like it could be a real place to explore.

If there is one Mario painting that I would love to hang on my wall, then it's this one. This is such a beautiful recreation of the classic Mario characters. Plus I love the background since Mario 2 is one of my favorite games. Outstanding job!

What a wonderful homage to the old game manual! Nintendo game manuals were often of such high artistic quality with full color illustrations.
Super Mario Bros. 2 has become an increasingly favorite game of mine, and I love this particular scene of all the characters dashing at their top speeds.
