A Great Blue Heron hunts for frogs in the mist of the marsh. Although they appear motionless for long periods of time, Herons can strike with lighting fast reflexes.
The fog provides the Heron with an element of surprise but also can give cover to the frogs ... if they choose to use it. Great Blue Herons are tall and large birds with long necks and greyish blue feathers. They are found in the marshes of North America and the northern portions of South America. For this picture, I decided that this image may be better done as monochromatic to show the challenges of hunting in moonlight.
