You could have fooled me! The finished piece to me looked like a photograph.
I think this is the first time I've been shocked to find out it was a digital painting LOL
Meaning OMG THIS IS FREAKING AWESOME
I'm very impressed

Thanks!
Um, I also used colours like blue, purple and green as well as the usual skin colours in some areas - but make it subtle, like blend them in. And use a textured brush to add some texture?

Thanks. It took me 2 weeks.
Here is a close up of the ear in progress if you're interested. It shows how I used green and purple! (Got that idea from a few tutorials) [link]

I dunno, but to me it looks like you took a picture, and slowly removed some details till you ended up with just using the sketch filter for the 'sketch'
but that's just me.

Here, I've uploaded this more convincing progress picture, showing how I painted the ear. [link]
And here's a close up of the original large picture, where you can see some imperfections: [link]
You just can't tell from the picture I uploaded here, because it's a shrunken version.

Jacia In reply to anzaichavz [2007-04-14 05:30:56 +0000 UTC]
Um.. I just used a soft air brush, lots of blending/blurring/smudging and what I felt were the right colours to go next to each other for the skin. I painted it really slowly and gradually so it turned out like this. I actually wanted the skin not to be too smooth to give it more realism, but I was also scared to make it too rough, so I just left it happy and smooth heh.

This is nice. But I got a question. I know its a filter but what did u use to transform that photo in the first panel?
👍: 0 ⏩: 1
Jacia In reply to Goldencard [2007-04-06 22:22:41 +0000 UTC]
To make a sketch out of a photo using filters:
desaturate > glowing edges > invert

The brush examples you give, the first 3, can you tell me which they were used for and the settings?
👍: 0 ⏩: 1
Jacia In reply to dimezanime88 [2007-02-23 22:57:46 +0000 UTC]
Umm.. I'm on a library computer so I can't check; but the 1st is on low opacity and flow, 2nd and 3rd are both low opacity and flow + go to brush settings and increase the spacing to whatever you want to create texture.

your very talented. this works well as a tutorial. perhaps you should explain how you do hair. it sort of goes from...straw to realstic hair in the last two steps without a middle screen showing what you did.
👍: 0 ⏩: 2
Jacia In reply to AussieMum [2007-01-24 22:10:15 +0000 UTC]
Also, the brownish 'straws' I just blocked in so while painting the rest, she wouldn't be left bald. They aren't actually in the final picture.
Perhaps you would like a close up look? It has more of a painted look up close.

Jacia In reply to AussieMum [2007-01-24 21:47:03 +0000 UTC]
Umm mostly I just refered to the tutorials in [link] . I also stumbled across her DA account once before, but I forgot her name.
Also I found [link] useful for the eyes.
It goes from straws to hair because I didn't save a picture inbetween.
