Nikolas drummed his fingers across the counter, his wave of blond hair brushed back and held into place naturally. The brothers had a lot of similarities, enough that their genetics were obvious after close enough inspection.

“I said already I’m not here for you. I want the girl,” Nikolas corrected. “As far as you and I are concerned, we haven’t seen each other in the past decade.”

“I can’t allow zat.”

“Why do you care?” Nikolas snapped. “Since when did you start caring about anyone else besides yourself? I know you don’t feel for the girl, so what it is?”

Klaus cleared his throat. “She’s useful to me.”

“Is that so?” He chuckled gently at the idea of it. “Has this got something to do with the fact I can’t draw time from her?”
