I'm going to go ahead and try to talk you out of it. Foxes do not make good pets for several reasons, first you have to keep them entertained. They are very intelligent animals and any zoo keeper who works with them will tell you that if they get bored then they will find a way to entertain themselves. That is usually by destroying something. The other thing is that even the "domesticated" foxes are still pretty wild, which means that their first instinct is to bite when they don't like something. That's why it's very difficult to find a vet who is willing to treat a fox because if you own a fox, you are going to get bit. Lastly, and most people don't know this, foxes smell like skunk. Foxes have scent glands just like a skunk that they use to mark territory, they do not smell nice.Β
Now, that being said. I think that it is possible to own an exotic pet responsibly so long as you have the knowledge and resources to do so. The problem is that most people that own exotics have neither. I see it all the time at the wolf sanctuary so I try to inform people as best I can. Β

Yeah I know. :\ most adorable things ever, but takes metric tonnes of care. If I ever did get one it'd most likely be a Fennec, but that's well after I did the research to keep one as a pet.
One day I might be ready to have a pet fox, but for now I remain pet-less.
