i know it sounds strange to say this, but this is a beautiful representation of the disaster. Wonderful contrast of the darkness and fear against the fragility of the paper crane. But the white crane is a beautiful symbol hope against the darkness

Thank you, that's what I was going for! I know that since I made this there's been a lot of art on DA having to do with the whole situation. This was just my immediate visual reaction to those initial images and videos of those waves of black water moving into the towns. I was thinking, style wise, more in the way of editorial illustrations than anything else when I put it together.

I love this so much and a part of me got washed away when the tsunami hit. Being so young I never knew I could feel such empathy for people half a world away. Godbless them I hope they feel the love and sympathy emanating from the millions around the world watching as this unfolds and were doing all we can to pull you guys out of the rubble you'll rise again.

I'm glad the piece spoke to you. I don't have the means to do anything more than this and donate to the Red Cross, but at least it's something in this bleak situation.
