Which came first, My Life as a Teenage Robot, or Miku as a mascot for the Vocaloid software? It seems that one of these was ripping off the other, because they seem so similar.

First ep of MLAATR came out in 2003, while Miku was introduced in 2007. Doesn't mean anyone copies another, cyan and grey are just a popular robot color schemes.
