Description This is one of 's first Rising of the Shield Hero OCs that is adopted from 's giveaway. Her name is Nerida and she's a Merfolk Demi-Human. In fact, she's the last of her kind. She lost her kind to one of the waves of catastrophe that came sometime after the forge of the new world. Afterwards, Nerida was captured (via fishing net) by the very same slave driver that once kidnapped, enslaved and abused Filo back when she and the rest of Naofumi's group was in Glass's world (prior to the merge). When she's enslaved, she was put in chains, and a tape gag, both which made her feel uncomfortable as the slave driver abused her for profits. It was then that Naofumi's group, Filo included, heard a commotion in a town while they, accompanied by Melty, were running an errand for Meliodas and the others at the Boar Hat tavern. Upon taking a close look, when they saw Nerida being abused and enslaved, forced to sing to entertain people, they were horrified and outraged. The one most shocked and outraged was Filo. In fact, when she recognized the slave driver, her shock and horror turned to fury, whereas her friends shared her anger. Melty urges the group to inform Meliodas's group while she informs Queen Mirellia and the family's friend, King Bartra of Liones. She even told the group to meet her at night to stage a rescue mission. When they returned to the Boar Hat, Naofumi's group told Meliodas and his friends what they saw, and Filo explained about the slave driver that abused her long ago. Hearing all this made Meliodas and his friends as horrified and outraged as they were, and they agreed to help them rescue Nerida while giving justice to the slave driver. When night fell, they all met up with Melty, who had some of her mother's shadows with her to tail the Slave Driver. They led the group to where the slave driver kept Nerida while he was out to get stuff. They infiltrate into the tent, and soon find the chained and taped Nerida. Raphtalia uses her Katana to break the chains, freeing Nerida, while Filo ungags her. Nerida introduces herself to everyone and reveals that she is the last of her kind, receiving comfort from Filo, who tells of having the experience similar to hers. As the slave trader comes by, Filo glared daggers at the man, claiming to have waited a long time for such a moment. Upon seeing and recognizing the Filolial girl, the slave driver attempted to use his whip to attack her to try and recapture her along with Nerida. However, to the slave driver's surprise, shock and horror, Filo caught the whip the first chance she got and snatched it away from him before tossing it aside. Then she told him in a threatening tone that it was payback time for what he did to her long ago. This quickly scared him, realizing what she may have planned to do to him, to a point where he pitifully, to no avail, begged for his life to be spared, making Raphtalia compare the man to the late Idol Rabier. Nevertheless, Filo was no fool, telling the slave driver that there will be no mercy for him. So she turned into her Filolial form and completely devoured him. Afterwards, Raphy finds and gives Raphtalia a note that was given to the slave driver, stating that his father, the same local nobleman that gave Filo to him in the first place, died of old age. Raphtalia suspects that the man was trying to make money to survive the pain of losing his father although none of it matters now, since he finally got what was coming to him. After that, Raphtalia, being that she was a former slave herself, extended a hand of friendship to Nerida, who accepted it. When she was given the offer to join Naofumi's party, she accept that, too, revealing that she has latent magic powers that she never knew before. Ever since, she became a capable fighter, specializing in water magic.
