Description
I decided to vector Smaug in my version of mlp.yes, his neck is shorter....and his wings isn't connected with his forearms because I didn't notice any MLP dragons with their wings and forearms connected

Originally Smaug used to look like that, You can tell when you look at the map in Bilbo's hut when Frodo and him are talking.
However they changed him due to the popularity of Wyverns and the fact that it would look better but I just see him as a weird bat shaped chicken O-O
This version I prefer mostly, its a very smooth and clean touch, great job

You drew him as a Dragon, how Smaug is depicted in Desolation of Smaug is in the form of a Wyvern; a dragon whose forearms are his wings.

The original concept art for Smaug had four legs and two wings. Personally I don't care either way. In the movie, I kinda preferred him as a wyvern in the final cut as his batlike movements made him seem more conniving and scheming.

I believe the movie dragon is actually a wyvern. Either wyverns are dragons or dragon-like creatures is up to your own viewpoints.
Either way, this is great.

Wyverns aren't technically dragons unlike the Western and Eastern ones who are dragons in the sense Wyverns are more of a flying-lizard as I've heard described by many artist and historians. There really is no definitive proof (because Dragons/other mythical creatures never existed) to my knowledge if Wyverns are related to the myths of Western and Eastern Dragons. Thye never existed; or so we think so truthfully you could count my knowledge as false because its all opinion based. One opinion shared by many.
But the myths of dragons date back thousands of years in practically every single culture It'd be strange to think they didn't exist.

This looks a little closer to what his design in the book. Funny story, the original concept art for Smaug DID have him with four legs but I kinda like him as a wyvern. I don't know why but I like him slinking around more like a bat.
