Wow, excellent render there.
Only three things that might make her look just that more spectacular.
One, add more of a sparkle to her eyes.
Two, I know this is part of anime & manga to have the eyes seen through the hair but try and have the hair cover the ends of her eyes.
Three, try adding a glow, or in gaming terms "bloom" on her from the direction of the light, not to much but just enough to create that something extra.
Try it, if it doesn't work, ah well you've tried something else with your art.

I has problems with anime girls
They're so skinny and their boobs are bigger than their head
But you did an amazing job on this, the coloring is perfect

Woot! A Matsumoto that's not trying to be quite so blatant (Despite the fact the actual character seems to love being so >.> But ya, more like a passer by saw her while she was minding her own business. Love it ^_^)
But anyway, you asked for a critique.
The good: The fine detailing in the hair and the way the water is breaking on her legs as great 
The 'not as good' (Because there is no 'bad' in art ^_^): the thickness of the fingers on her left hand (The supporting one) seems a bit off, she was always shown with surprisingly thin fingers in the books (Or maybe that was just me) Also you were saying you thought the image needed something, to me the upper left hand corner of the picture seems to be a bit empty, perhaps putting in some birds, a sailboat something along those lines, if the look on her face were different I would suggest a kite or the like, but really I like the idea of her looking for a bit on alone time on the beach.

It's a very nice picture, with a lovely lady and quite a painterly background. The waves around her legs is quite well done, and the sea behind her is reminiscent of Renoir. Her face and hair are curiously flat-looking, though -- I think maybe the location of the source of illumination is inconsistent (though I'm no expert!). This is in contrast to her wonderfully rounded (and delightfully large) bosom. Her lower body is sort of lost behind that bosom; I think the perspective might be a bit too extreme.

Hmmm....I can't really think of anything you could do...maybe make the bikini top look like it's been splatter by the wave? I dunno...that's just me. XD Anyway, awesome picture as usual. it needs something like dolphins on the background, maybe some birds flying overhead, etc. A little bit of wildlife would make it feel a little more tropical or something.

The picture looks very good. Nice foreshadowing and the angle is nice.
That surf flowing up on Matsumoto must of been a nightmare to do. I probably would of suggested using an airbrush effect where they meet to give off more of a spray effect.
Only think I think it could of used is on the horizon. The color is a little flat compared to everything else. Normally, with horizon lines blue skies will become lighter the further away it goes to either a white or a light, light blue.

...I have to wonder if those who say that her boobs are too big have seen the anime, 'cause they look about right to me.
Anyways, you really think it's missing something? I mean, her hair is finely detailed, the surf looks quite realistic, the shadowing isn't overpowering or lacking, and you even added water droplets sliding down her skin. If it still seems lacking perhaps adding something that refers to her character other than the necklace (though I can't say what since I've only seen the English version)...That or tiny fish because a secluded beach would probably have sealife about.
