I hear that "the cake is a lie" thing all the time so I just now started wondering wear on earth did it come from...I like this.

The cake is a lie came from the video game Portal. This robot thingy named GLaDOS (or something like that) would constantly say something about having cake and on one level you see writing on the wall. The writing says 'The cake is a lie' three times in a row and that saying caught on.
