Hm... Just a theory, but the name reminds me of "Miscellaneous Colors," meaning "consisting of members or elements [colors] of different kinds." Sounds like girls of different backgrounds.

Now, if the team name were to be pronounced as "Mix", one would be reminded of colors much more easily. Bonus points because it comes from the same root as "Miscellaneous".
