Well for moves they're based off of either real life moves or inspired by other pictures other people draw.  There's no real process on deciding which particular move to use though; as long as it's a submission hold its all good. 

For characters they're either inspired by recent banners in fire emblem heroes or just characters that I like.  But again there no real process of selecting; its just w/e I'm feeling.
