Stumbled upon this tutorial while trying to find mine (there needs to be a tutorial on how to navigate DA's categories X'D). I actually like the way yo made this like a comic... I just print-screened what I posted in my forums.
What's funny is that we both went about doing it a different way. I use fills, stroke, and the pen tool to do my bubbles. *shrugs* I just found that it was easier to get colored text bubbles that way. ^_^;

Only proves that there's more than one way to skin a word bubble! Thanks for the comment.

Actually, PS now has a feature where they can make word bubbles for you. If you go to the custom tool selection (it's under line tool normally), theres a menu for shapes at the top toolbar.
But it's flawed, your way actually works better, IMO.

Okay, it looked simple enough, so I tried it. I can't get the bubble to stroke, however. On both the right-click menu and the edit menu, it's faded'd out. Can you tell me what's wrong? It also might be helpful to include this in your tutorial.

oooh, complications eh? I'm not too sure what's going on, I have photoshop CS and sometimes it doesn't give you the "stroke" option if you have the wrong tool selected (ie: the magic wand or moving tool) but the option should still be available in the edit menu... The only other thing I can think of at the moment is perhaps your clicking too many times and your selection has disapeared. When you right-click or use the edit menu, is there still a dotted line where you want your word bubble to be? I'll research a little more and let you know if I find anything more...

Yeah, the dotted line is still here. Dunno what's up with that. Thanks for the attention, though.

I FIGURED IT OUT~! I figured it out! Layers! you can't use the stroke option if your on the same layer as your text. Press "F7" and it should bring up your layers menu, make a new layer below your text, click on it, then try the stroke option. It should work this time. This is a serious boo-boo for my tutorial, thanks for bringing it to my attention! I'll fix it as soon as I find some spare time!

Wow, thanks, it seems to have worked! Make sure the next person knows that you have to go to the Edit screen and Stroke it from there. Wow, you're a genius. @.@
