Description Just some practice, more with backgrounds - which this kind of failed. But hey, I like the concept and learned quite a bit, so I thought I'd share.

This is the original size of the file - I like this little mini-type paintings. I'm thinking about doing a lot more of these. They're a lot of fun and no pressure really.

The horses had been cooped for the past week, only thirty or so minutes of turn out in the indoor. They were stir-crazy to say the least. A terrible ice storm made it impossible to turn outside safely and the freezing temperatures kept the ice around for quite a while. Finally today, the cold snap well – snapped and the temperatures rose to about 30˚f and melted the ice and then as if someone up above was taking pity of Aj and the horses, layered the ground with a soft blanket of snow that would provide just enough traction for the horse’s to be able to run around safely.

Walking out to the barn, she pulled the heavy side doors open, lighting the dim stable with cool air and warm sun. The three horses chorused in whinnies, one at a time their heads appearing from their stalls, ears pricked towards the bundled up woman.

“Hiya guys!” Aj called out cheerfully while walking to the tack room and grabbing Nuggets turn-out rug. “Are you ready to go out and stretch your legs?”

Nugget pawed anxiously at his stall, snorting at the woman with his ears pinned to his skull like usual. Even though he was giving Aj a nasty face, the woman knew better. Nugget was a lot of talk if you’d gained his respect. True, he’d kick your ass (literally) if you showed him any inkling of fear towards him, but if you just approached him confidently and didn’t take any of his crap, he was actually a very respectable stud.

Slipping on the stallions leather halter, Aj lead him out into the cross-ties and then slipped his stable blanket and fleece layer off. Now only clad in his royal blue sleazy shoulder guard he looked utterly ridiculous! Aj let out a little laugh and Nugget, as if knowing she was laugh at him, snorted and struck out in a little temper tantrum. This only made Aj laugh harder, the blue spandex material not doing anything for the studs ‘tough-boy’ act.

“Oh gosh…” Aj muttered, collecting herself and pulling the red rug on and cladding him in some rubber bell boots. Clipping on a lead rope Aj led Nugget outside for the first time in a week. He pranced excitedly beside her but respected this stud chain and stayed beside her. Leading his to the smallest of the turn outs but the one with the highest fences, she stripped off his halter than ducked out of the way of his flying hooves as he went off bucking like his had springs in his hooves. Locking the gate, she watching the horse run and jump in pure bliss at finally being outside and free.

Haha love this! We would always say the horses had bra's on, although their sleazy's didn't cover the neck like yours, only used those when I braided. But one particularly massive gelding had a pink one, poor Kramer xD

Thanks!
I have just a shoulder guard for my RL gelding (the one w/out the neck cover) and we called it's his big blue bra too! Lol
We only use the full head/neck sleazies if like you said, they're braided for whatever reason, or they have hoods on. My intention when doodling this was to put a hood on him, but I never got around to doing it and every time I did, it looked like a space suit!
