Description
This is an original picture of mine and so are the characters. I just had a pretty picture in my head of two people who fell asleep together while fishing and I liked it so much that I had to draw it.I drew this first using just pencil, then I inked it in with a black Pilot pen (Precise V5, extra fine) and then I did all of the shading with just a regular ball point pen.
Not much else for me to say, I hope everyone likes it! It took me a long time to complete this one because of all the crazy detail I put into it.

I submitted this one a long time ago, I'm almost 100% sure it was before you were watching me. So don't feel bad, I don't expect people to look through all of my old stuff in my gallery. Besides, it's quite large now!

Thank you! I accually don't know the first thing about drawing fish... so I just sorta made up one. I know it's not anatomically correct and I forgot the gills, but I just say it's a magical fish to explain my mistakes on it.

Making your own up is always better, then you can draw it however you have it pictured in your mind and whatnot :]

Yes, original is definately better but I do love doing fan art as well simply because it's a lot of fun.

I agree, fan art is fun, maybe I just don't like doing the fan art on the insanely repetitive stuff like Final Fantasy 7 and such, doing it on new stuff that nobody has done before is funner( to me anyways.)

Well I haven't done any FF7 stuff (although I did do 1 piece of FF8 fan art), I do make a lot of Naruto fan art only because I'm a fan and I can't help it. But yes, the more unusual themes for fan art are great and seeing other people do them is very inspirational.

yeah it is inspirational, I want to draw some fanart sometimes but it always turns out terrible, oh wells guess thats what I get for never drawing.
FF8 is cool, not NEARLY as many people do stuff about it, unlike FF7.

Just because they dont want to see it doesn't mean you should stop drawing it! If you like drawing your original work, do it!

Definatly, I'd never stop drawing things I love just because they aren't in high demand. For that matter I just posted 2 old pictures of mine that are original (one of them is a doodle though and kinda sucks). I really wish I had a scanner though so I could have better resolutions for my art, my camera isn't the best for capturing tiny details.

Try getting a scanner/copier/printer all in 1 its pretty cheap that way, and ill check out those pictures as well.

Well a friend of mine said he had a scanner he could just give to me, but he's been very busy and hasn't had a chance to bring it over yet. Just a matter of time till I get a scanner.

I think Afternoon Nap is my best piece that I have online right now. I'm glad you like it too. Traditional media is what I'm best at doing, I especially love making black and white drawings.

They have so much more feeling and depth than you can get with color. (at least they grab my attention online due to detail and imagery) and this one rocks my socks!

I really should do more pictures with detailed backgrounds like this one. I just get impatient or I am lacking in creativity at the time. I had the idea for Afternoon Nap running through my head for a long time and I was putting it off because I don't know how to draw fish. But then I realized that it doesn't have to be a realistic looking fish if it's magical! I accually have a few really detailed pictures like this completed but I haven't posted them yet because they deserve to be high quality scans. I don't have a scanner yet so those pictures will have to wait...

Deviant art keeps timing out on me but I just wanted to say you are working with difficult media. But I think your pictures are really beautiful.
The stuff I do is almost cheating because I can go in and fix things with out physically harming the picture and color.

I just have a lot of practice so traditional art is easy for me. Sometime soon I'll be getting some of my colored pencil art up too.

It shows! I was always to heavy handed in the initial sketching stages on paper so had to resort to painting over the pieces for them to turn out... haha! That way you couldn't see my messy pre-lines. Now I work in clay(plates and things) or in digital.

Well I always draw lightly in pencil first and then go over it in pen. That way I can erase all of those icky imperfect lines and make the final version look really good.

It took me days to make that picture... it's not often that I do mega detailed backgrounds, making backgrounds bore the crap out of me... but I forced myself to finish it and I'm glad of it. The final produce turned out better than I hoped.

It is one of the beast skeches i have seen in my life, it is rare to see skecthes will as much detail as you out in!

Well I thought about it, but when I color things it always looks to me as if a lot of the detail gets lost in the color. So I prefer black and white because of that. But I did finish making a really good color drawing just yesterday, I need to get it scanned soon (my camera wouldn't do justice to the color and details). It's a Kingdom Hearts themed picture. Just a matter of time till I find someone with a good scanner so I have a high quality version of it up.

You know, a really good traditional tool for coloring is Prismacolor pencils. I've just started using them and I'll now never use any other brand of colored pencils. They are fantastic.

Those pencils can get a little pricy, but just resently I bought a set of 12 for about $16 which I think was pretty reasonable. I think it's like $1.20 or $1.40 if you buy each pencil individually though (which costs more but that way you definatly can get the exact colors you need).

Well if you buy a large set of the pencils it gets rather expencive, so I'm just going to slowly buy them a few pencils at a time rather than laying down a hugh wad of cash all at once.

I figured they would be easy to find... I picked up mine at a local art store. But you can find anything online, so that's a sure way to get a hold of some!
