Description DISCLAIMER: This tileset is not intended for international use. The characters and glyphs presented herein are not guaranteed to be numerous enough nor accurate enough to properly render foreign languages.

I've always wanted to make video games, but I've never been that good at 3D modeling or pixel art. Taking inspiration from the various ASCII-art games out there (like Dwarf Fortress, Net Hack, and Caves of Qud) I considered making my own text-based game engine. But I did not want to limit myself to just ASCII characters, or even OEM 437. Thus I decided to create my own table of symbols to use in text-based games and other programs. While I could have just used Unicode, I have my own reasons for why I thought this was a bad idea, but explaining them would be an article onto itself.

My table of symbols has undergone many revisions, trying to judge which symbols needed to be kept, and which could be tossed out. I'm still not completely satisfied with it, and I may wind up having to extend the table even further, something which I had hoped to avoid. Still I felt it was important to share it in it's current state, so I could get some feedback. Currently I have partial support for Latin, Greek, Cyrillic, IPA, APL, Z-Notation, Futhark, Hebrew, Hieroglyphics, Hiragana, and Katakana, as well as other random symbols. If any of you write in these scripts, please let me know if I got any of the characters wrong.
