Description For the recently announced "Onslaught at Arda" adventure supplement to Fantasy Flight Games' "Star Wars: Age of Rebellion" role playing game. I'm pretty sure my fear of falling would prevent me from being any sort of useful stormtrooper.

Thanks! Haha yeah that does make more sense. I'll just chalk that up to Imperial budget cuts after the clone wars.

Oh, and in republic Commando, they repel there too. Plus, it's just soo much better than seeing a bunch of jetpacks.

Fett's jetpack only looks good on Fett.Β

They actually do repel, it's in a few of the books, which ones exactly I can't remember. Also, the repel in the Empire at War game.Β

It is when a lot of the stormtroopers are flash trained. The 501st were the only Stormtrooper unit to remain pure Fett clones, a lot of the others were Corellian hosts, the Emperor got super cheap near the end of the Clone Wars.

Great job! I don't think I have seen anyone drawΒ stormtroopersΒ exit an AT-AT before.Β

Thanks! It's always fun to get to do a piece that shows familiar characters doing things we've never seen them do before.

Unlike the other stormtroopers who were always so competent...

I'm always impressed with your color choices. This piece is so unapologetically red. I know this is like Color Theory 101 for Complete Idiots Like Me, but I think it's fascinating how the interior looks so much cooler even though the greenish metal is a fairly warm color itself. The contrast is great.

I also like how the detail on the troopers is a little tough to make out because it's so much brighter outside. It makes it feel a little more real, like this is what it would look like if you were there, rather than being specially lit to show off stormtrooper armor.

Thanks! Yeah the balance between the light background and darker foreground was a bit tricky to strike, and originally I did have more definition and stronger lighting going on with the stormtroopers. But eventually I had to make the call to lose a lot of it for the sake of realism and separation of visual planes. Fun color theory fact: the greenish looking metal is actually a grayed-down orange color - it just looks green because the light outside is so blindingly red-orange in contrast.

That's awesome!

One of the things I admire most about your artwork is the way you can put so much detail into something and then hide most of it with lighting or atmospheric perspective or whatever. You're so good at letting details exist in those situations without letting it steal the spotlight. For instance, the stormtroopers are plenty dark enough to sell the light difference, but if you look hard enough, you can still see plenty of armor detail.

That's pretty amazing.Β  I often wondered how Stormies leave the height of the main carriage of an AT-AT without a ramp or it bending at the knees or something.

Thank you very much. Yeah until this assignment, I guess it never really occurred to me how they get out of those hulking monstrocities!
