Chapter 35: Amós, The Eight Gates, and The Eclipse

Amós, having descended from Ava, arrived at the Myriad River. Here he was disturbed by the cries of two Akumó Kings. Their cries echoed around the land as they argue at one another across from their sovereign lands. Bickering and howling at one another. He went to search the source of their discord. Though they are enemies of Man, but any further discord could lead to war. He discovered who the Sovereigns were.

One was the Song Bird of the South who beauty was unrivaled. Lest you remove the veil from her face and you'll see her true nature. The other, the Storm Wolf of Cereulean Fire who's temper was unmatched as is his hunger.

They both glared at one another, bidding their fangs and giving the other reason to retaliate. Yet, they were lamenting. Something is bothering them. Amos came to them and inquired their rage and sorrows, the siren replied, "I am the Vermilion Phoenix, and my name is Phųng. What troubles us is Great Black Cragged Trees have infested our sovereign lands. I believe it was the doing of the Wolf!"

The wolf sneered and replied, "I am the Cereulean Wolf, and I believe it was the doing of the Song Bird! She speaks in lies and tries to sing her lecherous songs!"

The heavenly child listened with great propounded attention to their painful recital of accusations and pondered on their words. Perceiving the beautiful maiden, though lecherous indeed, but she is fair. Believes she isn't at fault. However, the Wolf cunning and devious as he is with swiftness of striking lightning. Amós knows the Wolf would never steal from another Sovereign if he has nothing to gain from it. Lands of dead trees would mean nothing to the Wolf. He deduced with his equally swift mind and spoke to the Akumó.

"I shall find the one who's causing you sorrow and slay it. Perhaps your culprit is another Sovereign not of this World. Another who followed you into Holy Sygnet. One more devious, cunning, and lecherous than you."

They both answered, "Make it so! Bring me their head as proof!"

Amos then asked of them to bring him bowls filled with "Ninguái" (Larvae with the face of a deceased man) to draw the trespasser. As requested of them, they graciously gave him the bowls as he sets them before a port that separates from the Lords' homes to draw put the beast.

Eventually, the beast came. It was unlike any have seen. Even the Lords quivered. The moon from afar parted in twine. One light. The other shadow. Eight gates appeared over the river as darkness envelopes the heavens and a thick dark miasma befell over the river. Eight evil gates, eight horrible heads, and eight ribbons of the Damned. The Yomi King it calls itself. Each head at once said, "We are are one in the same. None can defeat our Shisha-no-Yakado (Eight Gates of the Dead) style. We can part the moon and sun and cover this World in our darkness. Tremble."
