Description This is such a beautiful photo by Cathleen Tarawhiti and so reminiscent of a classical portrait pose that I just had to have a try at producing a version of it as if it had been painted centuries ago complete with a 'sfumato' or 'smoke' effect and also distressed with paint cracks etc. Incidentally Cathleen recently received a DD for one of the photos in this amazing series, deservedly so.

That's amazing! I love the look of old paintings by the masters that show there age.

I got a rare chance to see a rembrantΒ  self portrait on loan from the Lovre . I just sat there and gazed at it for over an hr. You could see the paint srtokes, and cracks, the years of wear. Once in a lifetime chance. Now I don't know which version of your piece I like better!!! Amazing work!!

I know what you mean about viewing the old masters Brian, I visit loads of art galleries and museums and just stare in awe for hours, they are something else! Thanks for your comment buddy!
