I guess. I draw (no pun intended) inspiration from reality, especially animals.
But I suppose I am also engaged in imagining a better world much of the time.

...speaks to ME in this context; "I am an artist, a retired, old, left-lane hippie chic. I am now, in addition, claiming a new component to my identity, Mommy. This... I NEVER IN THREE LIFETIMES, thought, wanted, planned, or yearned to be. Thus throwing me into the hot, glowing embers of a concrete reality. One like no other, I've been obliged to partake in 40yrs spent roaming around this planet! So..."The lines of reality are clear and comprehensible as spelled out boldly in your creation. Then there's the good stuff. The exquisite, original, imaginative detail within the words themselves, and that is where my heart and mind like to live comfortably. Reality bites, and stings, and can be boring and mundane, repetitive, still healthy to maintain perspective and direction in MY life, BUT the detail is relative to my soul, emotion, expression, imagination, distinction, creativity, love, weirdness, nerdiness, beauty, and heightened sense of awareness to the details in the fabric of everyday life NOW as a person responsible for ANOTHER person and literally teaching life to her now. I remain open-minded (ultra-expanded). Seeing the beauty and wonderfully fantastic view, of things in the details, between lines of reality, where sadly, some will never experience and are just unable to go, and see what I've seen, so that I may see all aspects of my life from both, on the lines, and within. Truly blessed. Never sabotage, ignore, or waste a creative, alternative, intelligent, talented mind...such a bummer! #stayweirdforever
Good stuff.

My art comes from reality because every thing that I create, no matter how fictional it seems, has at least one auto-biographical element.

Disagree
Art, no matter what it is, boils down to one thing - truth.

From Aesthetic Illusion/Disillusion by Jean Baudrillard:
"Entering the sphere of dispersion of the object, the womb of the distribution of forms. This is the very form of illusion, of a return to play (illudere). Going beyond an idea means negating it, going beyond a form means passing from one form to another. The first defines the critical intellectual position that is often the stance of modern painting in its contact with the world; the second describes the principle of illusion, where there is no fate for form other than form. In this sense, we need illusionists, who know that art and painting are illusion, in other words as far from any intellectual criticism of the world as from aesthetics proper (which always presupposes a reflective discrimination between beautiful and ugly), who know that art is first of all a deception of the eye [un trompe-l'oeil ], a deception of life [un trompe-la-vie], just as any theory is a deception of meaning [un trompe-le-sens] and just as painting, far from being an expressive and therefore supposedly true version of the world, consists in dressing up traps [dresser des leurres], creating deceptions in which the supposed reality of the world is naive enough to get caught. Just as theory does not consist in having ideas (and therefore in flirting with the truth) but in setting snares in which meaning is naive enough to get entangled."

Reality is nothing more than a broken concept, we judge what is real by our perception of the world around us. Since every being on this planet sees, thinks and feels differently and these things change constantly there are infinite perceptions, which results in infinite realities.
