wow. great job. though as mentioned already, the top does look like wet concrete. though skins tough to do. amazing work. i love it.

Nice work. The bump and specular effect at the top of the page seem a little too strong. They make the surface look more like wet concrete than paper, but maybe that was the goal?

Skin as opposed to paper was the goal, but I'm no wizard with 3d textures.

Skin! Of course! It's a tough surface to do. It's both translucent and reflective, subject to subsurface scattering with subtle patterns resulting from the cell structure and wear. You might take a digital camera and shoot closeups of some skin. Then you can manipulate that to make a texture. The result would probably be kinda creepy, but appropriate for Halloween.
