It is a real shame, but we all knew it wasn't going to go on for ever. Hopfully she's done a bit to raise awareness of the UK's aviation and military heritage (beyond spitfires!). Next stop, let's get this back in the air: www.avroshackleton.co.uk/

I agree, and yes I hope they get the Shak airbourne.. I long for a Lightning but pigs will fly first! (My fave aircraft!
I agree with you about Spit's, while its always lovely to see and hear them, there just seem to be so many now and shows rely on them.. Other types would be great..

I expect the only way we'll ever get Lightnings flying over the UK again would be in some sort of RAF backed historic aircraft flight (BBMF+?) with service pilots, and the MoD would never agree to pay for that, even though the queue of volunteers to man it would be out the door and around the block...
