Description So...as I wait for my new laptop to arrive, ( twiddling thumbs and all that ) and being that I cannot use my Wacom tablet, I've resorted to actually picking up a pencil, pen, and paper, (shock horror) which I haven't used fully in let's say a good 10 years and started sketching and inking as I go, a fictional Hero, which is obviously my Favourite Comic book Hero, 'Captain America' and a real Hero, which is the courageous firefighter! (Tough job but someones gotta put those fires out). I started with a light sketch oh about 20 minutes earlier, utilising a more minimalistic approach on muscle tonal Gestures and subtle tonal schemes, kindly inspired by Pat, (sun dog) Sharpwww.deviantart.com/sol-caninus His vast knowledge in these areas has been a great help to me with this little project. There's no referencing here, this drawing is totally conceived and sketched out from memory. It's so strange drawing on paper again. It feels slightly alien to me now...i may carry on..i may just leave the project as is....all depends...the spirit is willing but the mind is less entusiastic....(twiddling thumbs more)...

Sorry for the screenshot. But my Phone is garbage..lol

Your traditional art is great! Always good not to get too reliant on digital tool. Hope you get your setup back up and running-

Oh, thank you. I haven't drawn traditional for a long time. I don't mind traditional but do prefer digital.

Paper?Β  Dude!Β  Old school.Β  lol.Β  Looks good.Β  Strange confluence of hard outline in the foreground with smudge-tone behind - like two separate approaches.Β  Curious to see where it goes.Β Β
So on what hardware did you decide?

Straight up, rummaging around for paper Pat..lol!! I found some A4. ! I thought, 'ok, that's a start..lol.. then I sifted through an old box full of bits and bobs, found an old HB pencil - picked it up - felt odd at first. Then found an ink pen! 'Ready to go!'...i thought..so, next, was coming up with a quick project and the first thought that came to mind was fictional and real heroes? The contrast between both the Firefighter and Capt A seemed perfect! So 20 minutes later, I had this drawing half sketched in pencil, half inked. Looked at it...twiddled thumbs.. Got bored with it..haha.. So idk. I may continue tomorrow if the lappy doesn't arrive.

Now the laptop. I just picked the cheapest one going.. which is the
Quad Core Gaming HP EliteBook Laptop. 1.9GHZ, 8GB, 128GB SSD,Windows 10

I know it the dreaded windows 10 but just for now to get me Started, because I'm tired of this smartphone ! So it's cool with me..

Good show.Β  See if you can find some charcoal somewhere, and large size toothy paper on which to use it. Swing that arm, get the shoulder into it, feel the sway of the strokes right down to your toes.Β  It's just like dancing when you do it right.

Hey, it's only money.Β  Beats racking yourself over specs and price and such to get the best deal, then finding you could have done better if you'd waited a day for the 1/2 price overstock sale.Β  Haha.Β  Doesn't sound bad for a laptop and probably it is the better way to go.Β  This way you have something to work with while we wait for MS to role out the next big thing (which will work horribly, because they always rush to market).Β Β

You know, i never used Charcoal before! So you got to be flamboyant when you use Charcoal? Like, grow a wacky moustache and one of those funny hats wacky artists usually wear? Sounds cool to me!πŸ˜‰πŸ‘ dancing with the charcoal on paper!..trouble is. I woke up this morning and thought. I'm not gonna pick up that pen or pencil. I need digital!πŸ˜‚

It is only money. Which seriously idc about...i just wanted a lappy like yesterday because, this DA app is garbage and my smartphone keyboard plays up and also, i do not relish the thought of continuing to drawing on paper and add more to my piles of art filesπŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚ so hopefully within the next couple days or so, i should be up and running. Tonal schemes, geatures and everything else you've mentioned will be my new study. Thanks manπŸ‘πŸ‘

LOL.Β  I know.Β  Let's save some trees (as we deplete the second-series rare-earth minerals.Β  XD).
Shouldn't take long to set up.Β  Did you get a graphics editor? (Go Clip Studio Paint over PS, unless your purpose is professional photography). Or will you continue for now with open software?
There is a quick way to pick, download, and update open software apps. I used to use it.Β  Very good. It's called niniteΒ  ninite.com/
