Result of one of my Request Streams.I had a series of themes and a series of ponies, and the result gave me "Samurai Cheerilee". I think this is one of the most interesting concepts that ever came up in a drawing of mine. Cheerilee does have the knowledge and dedication that characterizes a samurai, so I didn't really have to work too much to imagine her in the armor. I was going to use a green armor, since it contrasts better with her magenta body, but nothing beats the red armor when it comes to epic look.
The kanjis that are engraved into the armor are (I think) the kanjis for "Knowledge", "Teacher" and "Student". I think. I know next to nothing of Japanese and I Googled them, so I am hoping they are accurate. Every correction you can throw me is more than welcome. Though the drawing will be complicated to edit, it will prevent me from making the same mistake twice.

The detail of the armour is great. I love the black shading there, it really does transmit a feeling of weight. All dem rivets and layers. And of course, the ink-on-cloth style of the rest of the picture is perfectly fitting. A nice emulation of that traditional style. Well done!

There are plenty of very good things about this picture. The technique looks like a genuine Japanese work of art, the background is simple, yet evocative, and the armour is edited to fit the pony frame, and looks good without forcing the wearer to stand on two legs like some redsigns. But what truly clinches this picture for me is Cheerilee's face. We've got such a wonderful emotional expression here, something that hints that, despite all her badarse appearance, she's not truly happy with her samurai life. I can sense a more or less epic backstory to this picture, and that's what's clinched it as a favourite.

I really love how you do costume design and I know you love doing it too. This is no exception, this is pretty fantastic samurai armour.

The texture, the background, the colors. It all just works. And of course, samurai Cheerilee is such a good idea. When next Discord starts playing around, I want to see this.
