This is simply wonderful! I love that you took the liberty of giving them each a more unique style (more anime like too), rather than their basic original get-ups. It gives it more of a modern feel, like if the game was happening nowadays. I find it interesting that they are all looking down so that not much of their faces are visible, is there symbolism behind it mayhaps? The coloring and shading are quite nicely done, and the shadow underneath them all certainly adds depth. Also I love that they are just chilling on a huge Mr. Saturn's head, nice! Overall it has a very solemn yet peaceful feel to it that I find rather endearing. Beautiful pic for a fantastic game.

Thank you! I really loved Earthbound, I loved how the world was so modern, it made the surreal aspects so much more strange and awesome. I wanted show the characters in a more relateable, emotional light, so I made them look more like the people that would play it today.
I don't think they ever tell you how old these characters are, just that they are children, and their parents don't seem too upset about their kids traveling the world. I know some people pictured them as young children, and others pictured teens, and I didn't want to betray either memory.
I remember playing and thinking how could Ness kill so many things with just a baseball bat, he must be a really tough kid, so I wanted him to look angsty and dark, like he had some sort of deep psychological problem. He is psychic, maybe it made him a little crazy? Paula was very interesting to draw as well. I wanted her to look magical and pretty, but not ditzy, and I'm very happy with how she looks. Jeff has a subtle steam-punk aesthetic, but he always seemed more functional then fashionable. Poo (I never call him Poo, that's REALLY weird) looks like he's seen a lot of battles, but because he's a martial artist, i figured he would have a calmer personality. They do all hold the same theme, even the Mr. Saturn has a somewhat post-gothic style.

Thanks again, Arikaz! your comment brightened my day!
