Hello everyone.

Here we have an engine that made a cameo in my least book "Sergeant Warrington"...

HANK THE AMERICAN ENGINE

In the model series, he was based on a Pennsylvania Railroad K4 class.

A steam engine that's never run on UK railways. To me, the K4 class doesn't work in the Railway Series. So just like with Molly, I've decided to change his basis. I went with a USATC S160 Class because it's an American locomotive built for Europe and shipped to England in the 1940's.

Coming to England
Hank was built in 1942 and shipped to England. He came to help with the supplies trains during World War 2. He was stationed in a dockyard on the southeast coast. There he met Warrington and Neville.

After the war
In 1945, Hank was brought by the Hungary Railway for heavy goods work. He worked until he was withdrawal in 1981. He was then shipped back to England and went to the Great Central Railway.

My head cannon
In the NEW RAILWAY SERIES universe, Hank was restored and repainted navy-blue with red lining. He now works on the heritage railway and does rail tours from time to time. In 1993, he went on a rail tour that took him to Sodor where he was reunited with Sergeant Warrington again.

I haven't decided if Hank will join the North Western Railway in the future. Let me know what you think?
