i even got lost there - was separated frm the group.
at first it was so noisy, when we entered, but then, going a little bit ahead, the wrong turn and - uh - suddenly it was too quiet, those lonely grey walls, it was suffocating. after i got out of there - i still was like in a trance. hmm. maybe because we were there in the evening and all the edges were blurred and stuff.
ahem.
to ur picture.
that one seems somehow peaceful to me, even soothing in a way)

I spent a day at Krakau (SP?) a while back. That and two other former concentration camps. It was so lonely. I cried from the moment that I walked in the gates to the moments that I left. I even got arrested at Dauchau for getting into a fight with a skinhead who was harrassing a lady who was crying in front of an oven where her family had been killed.
I add this to say that this picture captured that feeling I had going through the gate, that loneliness that was so incredibly a part of those places, the agony and the just overwelming pain. This picture captures that. It's amazing...
