I was always inordinately fond of the hounds. Second only to my unreasonable fondness for the King in Yellow, naturally.
I get the feeling that the victim-in-waiting is fully aware they are behind him and cannot bring himself to confirm what his basal instincts already know.

Goomi depicted the hounds as the pets of Cthulhu ,and dwelling in a doghouse seemingly designed by Escher, judging by its incredible angles.
Due to the loss of certain lore and because the Hounds have allies, it may be hopeless to try to defeat them if you were so foolish or unlucky or mad enough to invoke them...
