Description What if Stephen McHattie was an actor in a British version of Marimar?
About his character: In the original telenovela, the Character was named Nicandro Mejia, played by Mexican villain actor Toño Infante, a thug that worked for the original antagonist, Angelica. It was under orders from Angelica that he set fire to Marimar's home and murdered her grandparents. Shortly afterwards, Nicandro is murdered by Renato Santibańez, which forces him and Angelica to flee to the city of Valle Encantado in Veracruz and into the radar of the vindictive Marimar.

About the actor: Stephen McHattie is a Canadian actor known for his roles such as Grant Mazzy in Pontypool, Grand Inquisitor Silecio in the Fountain, Hollis Mason in Watchmen, James Danvers in the Covenant, Leland in A History of Violence, Captain Gardiner in Moby Dick and the Shade in the DC animated universe.

How I would depict the character: McHattie's character is Victor Leland (Nicandro means 'Man of Victory'), a mobster from Bristol who works for an unknown employer. He often comes to East Grinstead, along with several thugs on the hunt for the lost scrap logbook hidden by the family of Gustavo Aldama. He is often extorts local horse breeder Renato Santibańez and his daughter Angelica as guide across the West Sussex woods. But then everything changes on the day he run afoul of an engine polisher named Marimar and Renato's Son, Sergio while the former was walking her dog and the latter was returning home from university. Victor Leland meets his end in the pub owned by Marimar's grandparents when the young girl accidentally shoots him while saving her grandfather.
