For those who don't know this Mexican Telenovela: Marimar is a Mexican Telenovela about a rags to riches girl that seeks revenge against the family of her husband for her arrest and the murders of her grandparents.

About G.I. Jane: In this 1997 American film, a crusading Texan senator pressures the IS navy to begin full gender integration. To prove her point, a topographic analyst named Jordan O'Neill joins the special warfare group. Despite every challenge she endures in this unit, from agonizing training to political betrayal, O'Neill is determined to win.

How I would make it work: After her defeat and assault by Captain Cusack and his militia, a wounded and humiliated Marimar is forced to leave Britain after she's accused of bombing HMNB Portsmouth and reanimating her deceased paternal grandfather for the sanctuary of Halifax, Nova Scotia. From there, while her husband and her few allies struggle to fix the guided missile destroyer HMS Olympic, Marimar turns from vengeance to redemption. With an entire world that reviles her, the former Bristol city councillor endures abuses and training as she learns about the royal navy to save her sister, her nation, defeat her enemies and sink the Sorayazula.
