Description My first time working with Zecora! I can't believe I've NEVER done a wallpaper with her before. O.o Hopefully it turned out alright!

In a strange way this reminds me of "Lion King"... Hakuna Matata e.deviantart.net/emoticons/s/sā€¦ " width="15" height="15" alt="" title=" (Smile)"/>

The concept of this piece is quite simple and yet it seems to fit in nicely; assuming that Zecora's homeland is reminescent to Africa (like most people undoubtfully believe), this is a very good tribute to the latter, giving of the vibe of African savannah - warm and somewhat plain.

As mentioned - this brought a strange reminder of "Lion King" for me; technically the two are quite different and yet I cannot shake that feeling. This, of course, plays little role in deciding the originality of the piece, which in terms of MLP at least does fairly well - Zecora and her homeland are rarely touched upon in fandom, so it's a nice vision.

The style you used may be simple, but it's also befitting to the endless, empty plains of southern savannah that are either covered with sand or dry grass. The somewhat monotone landscape stretches beyond the horizon and this piece plays a great homeage to that image.

The impact of this pic is the most intriguing thing of the mix - while definately not striking, its beauty gently reveals itself before one's eyes, much like African wild lands. Not everyone can truly appreciate the magic of such simple landscape, you need to breath it in, just like with this piece.
The weak glow, which emanates from Zecora, gives out the feeling of pride the zebra feels towards her home, creating an even more majestic image. The plain and simple technique makes up a very consistent whole, with each element being a part of something bigger; another great homeage to savannah's nature.

Overall it's a very good example of how simplicity can still grab you, creating something more, despite the lack of detail. Sometimes it's truly better then flashy images, beaming from the pic and you proved that much.

Thanks again for another one of your wonderful critiques!

I need to be honest; I was listening a song from the Lion King 2 soundtrack while making this piece (this song: [link] ) ...so...you are correct in the regard of the Lion King feel to it

I love that song (though I remember Tina Turner version ^^')... so "Aha"
Actually, taking another look at the piece, I see that the concept is still strikingly similar to "Forever Under" and "The Wish" and yet I didn't catch that at the time... just goes to prove how even small details (or the lack of them) can affect the recipant, coz the most striking difference is that while the previous two were more melancholic, Zecora's pic is definately more cheery in fell
Good job. So, who's gonna be next, if I may ask? ;>

Hehe, yeah. By unintentional habit, I tend to carry over one or two things from previous wallpapers, while at the same time, trying to add/introduce something new to each one (being the grass at the bottom of this one). I try to push myself to learn something new with each wallpaper I do.

As for what's next, not too sure at the moment. I've never done Spike before so that's always an option.
I've been conceptualizing one wallpaper called "With Friends Like These...", but I need to decide which characters to use, and possibly hire someone to make the vectors.
I've also considered another crossover piece that may or may not come out soon.

I read in a fanfic from I don't know where, that Zecora's homeland is called "Zebrica". The fan fic's name is "The last Party".

I love the grass at the bottom of the picture and the way it works perfectly with the rock and the ridge/hill in the background. They're just enough to give a great impression of an arid landscape. The focus on Zecora with what seems to be distortion lines radiating from her is interesting, and while it's a bit tricky for my eyes, it's certainly effective at centering the image on her. The starry night sky works well, and the dust/mist's coloration makes me think it's being lit by a fire.
Say, maker, could you attempt to do a somewhat similar Zecora image, but in daytime? Such an arid landscape would work perfectly for that.

Zecora is easily one of my favorite characters. Love any background with her. She just seems like a cool lady.

For sure. I want them to do a two or three parter that sees the mane 6 visiting Zecora's homeland.

Until then, there's fan-fics. I know how I want my Zecora one to start and end, need to plan everything in between still. But that's okay, since I've got two others I want to finish off first.
