Its as simple as that, accordingly to the western religions.
They aways want to make it seems 'more complicated than that', but its always so simple.
Its that whole 'God giveth and god taketh away'.
To western religions he would have 'given them life' and created fire which would eventually burn down and 'extinguish' them.
