Final update, folks. In the time it took for all these renders to complete, I completed all the major detailing I could think of. One major render is underway, and after that, I may do a few more beauty shots, but other than that I'm going to let the mesh sit for a while, come at it in a few days with a fresh set of eyes, and add anything I may have missed or wanted to put in to begin with and neglected. Hope she's meeting with everyone's approval. I think she's come out far far better than her predecessor.So in other words, stand by for minor revisions before I upload her for your use.

Thank you, thank you. What I'd considered as a background story would be that the Daedalus was originally designed to look like this, based on the aesthetic of the NX Class. However, because of the cost of the Romulan War, they had to make the ship a bit simpler and more bare-bones. Hence the configuration we all know.

Only conjecturally. It's never explicitly stated that it's the Daedalus which was the first to hit Warp 7, and frankly, she never looked like the kind to hit that milestone.
