Description
First test run of my new Daedalus mesh. I'm also considering a version with cleaner texturing. Thoughts and suggestions are welcome as always.About the piece itself...I couldn't help but make this comparison, you know?

Beautiful modelling, but I too think the texturing is a bit odd. My opinion, though, that the darkness of the grunge is OK, but the pattern is too small. What I mean is, have e.g. one bigger smudge convering a larger part of the hull, a bit darker there, a bit lighter there. Maybe also a mix of colours, rust and a burnt dark grey. It would look more natural. I suck at texturing, but I tried to make a similar effect on my Wasp class.

Well, what I was going for was dirty edges on every panel, possibly from handling or something. I dunno. It basically turned out how I wanted it, but I'm not totally sure I want it after all. Maybe for the shakedown cruises she was all dirty from construction, but after she's fully functional they give her a fresh coat of paint. We'll see. I'm waiting to buy a new computer desk and when I've got that I'll see about doing some more work.

Looking good! Cleaner texturing? Mmmm, two sides to that I guess. For instance on the one hand we never saw the Enterprise(s) with any weathering BUT perhaps they simply benefited from better construction materials/shields.
My personal opinion is that a bit of wear and tear adds character... At 53, I should know
