I still don't get why all these pokemon league places consist of only one or two buildings...

Well it's like with Ever Grande City; in the anime they're so much larger and it's an actual city or town area with shops and schools and all sorts. It's just in the games they're stuck for space so they don't include it.
It's like why don't they include all the towns and cities from the anime - just not enough space.
