This is the final render result of the lesson here

As the theme, the hubby's giving his wife the "3rd degree", making her face the other way while showing her nice back end while answering confessions... under the one light... lol. It's a fantasy they share.

Lights used, 1 UberEnvironment and 1 Linear Point Light (rats, forgot the specular light haha). In a plain room where there's only one dim light, the shadows do tend to be dark, so mind you, it's like those mafia or CIA/FBI movies, you know...

Enjoy!

Well done, young man, well done. Very photogenic and a great lesson why digital can be better than real film (sometimese.deviantart.net/emoticons/s/sā€¦ " width="15" height="15" alt="" title=" (Smile)"/> ) Why?

This would be a very long lighting process and the set up and test shots could take a couple of hours. The lighting is very dramatic and sets the mood very well. Then one would get into the whole photoflood vs strobes to light this in the real world. A strong key light can be very effective when coupled with just enough fill to give a suggestion of the background.

Then the pose itself accents the model's leg very nicely. You will see in a lot of glamour shots the model on her tip toes as that forces the legs into a more shapely, er, a shape.
This is an out-standing (pun intended) photograph regardless digital or real.

Thanks so much for this critique, friend! Yes, when I was doing the lessons, I thought how dramatic the light looked, I really liked that a lot and thought, I should do a render like this! When I did the pose, hehe, well needless to say I liked it very much I just may do another scene like this

There's a school of thought ref photography that until one masters artificial light sources one just takes mere snapshots. I don't know about that but what I see in your work is doing "arty" pieces that simulate film based photography. Knowing how to use light sources to accent the work is something that you are getting better at doing. Keep up the good work.

Now look what you've done, you made my head swell LOL! Thanks so much, friend And I totally agree, you really need to know how to deal with lights and can't just use "make art" button, to better yourself at images and your imagination

Hey, I LIKE it, Wolfie! I'm not into whips and chains, but I was trained as an interrogator in a previous life...... never did one like THIS though. Wonderful light and shadow effects here, and although wifey's a bit more muscled than my personal dream image, she does cut a very fine figure - musculature and posture are just awesome. As Werefergie pointed out, models on tiptoes look taller - and it accents their legs..... nice work, my friend!

Thanks a lot, friend! Yes, I put her on her toes to make it more "umph" for the nice ass to stick out hehe, didn't even think about the legs lol. I'm not into chains or whips or any garbage fetish either, but the interrogation and "confession" was a really neat idea that popped in my head while doing that lesson hehe

Yep, she's a bit into fitness, I like the normal everyday girls that aren't into fitness programs, but I do like some very nice fitness sometimes, those are sexy

Looks great, Bernie! I don't know a thing about the software you're using, but I did alot of 3D modeling with Pro-Engineer years ago.

You're welcome! We used Pro-E 2000i^3, that was new in '02. So yeah, there's likely been some newer versions since... but from what I've seen with a fair bit of software, sometimes there's not a whole lot new... different "buttons" or menus in different places, or just fancier (more horsepower required), or different ways of doing the same things... Windows is a glaring example of that!
Anyway, these are cool and interesting creations indeed! Keep up the great work!

daft question i know, but is the light postioned in the lampshade?

even i as i type this i know i'm being extra stupid

šŸ‘: 0 ā©: 1

jamminwolfie In reply to IanTP [2012-01-16 09:58:49 +0000 UTC]

LOL, yes, the light is actually positioned inside the light bulb. Got two of that lamp loaded. On one, I set the bulb on UberSurface in surface settings, got the translucency in use at 100% (which lights up the bulb when there's a light inside), all the other parts have the opacity at 0.00 strength, and cast shadows off on the lamp prop. On the second lamp prop, cast shadows is left on, but the bulb's opacity is on 0.00 strength.

2 linear lights? or 2 lamp props and 1 linear light?
Ubersurface?
sorry.

šŸ‘: 0 ā©: 1

jamminwolfie In reply to IanTP [2012-01-16 10:36:09 +0000 UTC]

You have a long ways to go if you don't know what ubersurface is, I'll be honest about that It's 2 light props and 1 linear point light. It's a trick I taught myself since the bulb isn't a separate prop (though a separate surface).

If you have DS4, you should have both the linear point light and ubersurface. The linear point light is in the menu where you would normally load the lights, the ubersurface should be in your "Daz Built In Content" folder, under Shaders/Uber/UberSurface. To load it without replacing textures, select the prop in the content tab, then select the surface in the surface tab, hold your CTRL key while double clicking "UberSurface Base". Uhh... there should be some tuts somewhere for that settings, sorry I'm not gonna do a tut for me, there are areas there even I don't really comprehend and don't want to mislead anyone.
