Wow, great transition. I hope that her action doesn't literally come back to bite her later on.

Did she just knock the sentience out of that cow??

Sapience, actually.

You sure? I thought sapience was the ability to have higher thought processes than base instincts while sentience is a more plotting/planning self-awareness.

for example, crows are sentient while wolves are sapient

I thought you meant that she was bonked out of the last ounce of humanity she had left. If she doesn't even have sentience left, she's basically a sponge.

No that's sapience. Sapience is the not sponge/potatoΒ

sentience is higher thought, I know this to be true... Like 26% sure

Sentience is consciousness, sapience is the ability to reason.

Then sentience would work in this instance since she is losing the human consciousness and being reduced to the simple sapience of a cow.

I love ya man, but holy shit, are you doing this on purpose? Please just google sentience vs sapience.

Wrenzephyr2 In reply to Mr-DNA [2016-08-08 05:33:31 +0000 UTC]

Nope... Wasn't on purpose... Just looked it up and realized I literally made myself look ignorant by getting two words backwards... Like Past and Passed...
I'm going to go ahead and just doodle in the corner because I am a shame

It's a common misuse.

Embarrassed because the whole sentience/sapience thing is one of my go-to talks, usually talking about crows and Ravens and wolves

I LOVE THIS ARGUMENT

Like, as a general social phenomenon, not just this one in particular

Because I and everyone I know is used to using "sentience" as a definer of self-awareness and such.

But it turns out sapience is the word we were looking for, this whole time. It was a magical journey.
