Description I haven't posted anything since my daughter was born last Easter so it's about time to get to it again...

This was taken at an antiques shop in TΓΆreboda, Sweden. The place is a treasurechest.

It feels nice to have something to post again. Hope you like it!

Have a great day!

Cheers,
Janne

Thank you so much for your kind critique, M!...
It's hard to get the contrast and lightness right when viewed with different monitors. In general my pics tend to look too dark to some people. I enhanced the light from the window just to achieve the effect you mention so it's great that it worked...

Thank you once again and have a great day!

Cheers,
Janne

I quite agree with you about the monitors. They are most certainly the weakest link in photographic workflow. I resisted getting rid of my CRT monitor for a long time because of colour quality issues with flat screen monitors. That is why I am very particular about keeping my monitor calibrated.

I use a two monitor setup; a large expensive one to do my work on and a smaller, cheap one for menus and other side work. Even though I calibrate both machines, the cheaper one never is quite right and always shows things to have more of a blue cast than my large one. I find the only way that one knows that the monitor is displaying well is to see how close the images out of the printer compare to the monitor.

Excuse me for my rambling, just to repeat, I really like the image and am going to try some of your techniques in some of my work!

I really like the "foggy" atmosphere. I would really like to know was the place just like that or is this done by post-processing... ? Atmosphere is just palpable... GW!

Thank you so much for your kind comment! The place was just like that but HDR processing made it look like it looked in real life. It's a 3 shot composite with +-0.7 exposures.

Okay i might sound stupid, but i have no idea what you just said. I'm still a learner so IF you have the time and patience, can you explain the technique you're talking about? Or link me a website that does.. I'd search it myself but i don't know what to look for :/

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

JanneO In reply to solo3991 [2011-07-31 05:11:47 +0000 UTC]

Well. it's easiest just to google it but basically you take 3, or more, shots with different exposures; one darker, one normal and one lighter shot. Then you use a HDR program to combine those 3 shots to create a that hyperrealistic look. Here's few tutorials I found:

Here's a short video as well:

Hope this helps!...
