I quite agree with you about the monitors. They are most certainly the weakest link in photographic workflow. I resisted getting rid of my CRT monitor for a long time because of colour quality issues with flat screen monitors. That is why I am very particular about keeping my monitor calibrated.
I use a two monitor setup; a large expensive one to do my work on and a smaller, cheap one for menus and other side work. Even though I calibrate both machines, the cheaper one never is quite right and always shows things to have more of a blue cast than my large one. I find the only way that one knows that the monitor is displaying well is to see how close the images out of the printer compare to the monitor.
Excuse me for my rambling, just to repeat, I really like the image and am going to try some of your techniques in some of my work!

Thanks! I used Photomatix Pro 4 for the HDR and CS5 for the final touches.

I like the atmosphere this picture conveys. The red/brown tones go very well with the oldfashioned furniture.

Thank you so much for your kind comment! The place was just like that but HDR processing made it look like it looked in real life. It's a 3 shot composite with +-0.7 exposures.
Cheers,
Janne

Wow! That's an incredible shot! And how did you get that smooth, saturated effect in your photograph? I have a canon EOS 500 and it's nothing compared... help? :/

Okay i might sound stupid, but i have no idea what you just said. I'm still a learner so IF you have the time and patience, can you explain the technique you're talking about? Or link me a website that does.. I'd search it myself but i don't know what to look for :/
