10162 Eisbär

Grullo Sabino Tobiano Frosted Appaloosa with Vitiligo Drakehest Stallion

Name: Eisbär
Nickname(s): Bear
Breed: Drakehest
Gender: Stallion
Age: 22 years old
Height: 16.3 hh (~170 cm)
Coat color: Grullo Sabino Tobiano Frosted Appaloosa with Vitiligo
Genotype: EE/aa/nD/SbSb/nT/nLp(snow)
Rider/Handler: Caisus Deamon
Disciplines: Search & Rescue Mount + Occassional Ranch Work (Ex-Rodeo OutRider)

Personality:
Bear is a very loyal and dedicated individual if he was a person he would most likely be seasoned police or military sergeant, who may be strict and intimidating at first, but deep down just wants what's best for his cadets and to push them to their very best. Originally he belonged to K.D.'s father who adopted him as a young yearling to use as a rodeo, parade mount along with being an outrider horse in the arena.

Bear has had all sorts of things thrown at him during his career, chasing after lose bucking broncs, avoiding the horns of an angered bull, and even a drunken jackass who somehow appeared out of nowhere and was throwing themselves at him, Bear is not one to frightened easily, if at all. He could almost be described as robotic, possessing little to no emotions, but after the father's sudden death during a winter excursion, he was thrown into a catatonic state, refusing to eat, drink or interact with anything. He fiercely rejected K.D. at first, he nearly put the guy in the hospital a few times with broken bones and concussions, but over time and many falls and trials, the two have grown very close. Bear seems to have taken on his previous rider's desire in protecting K.D. and trying to be there for him during his most challenging times in or out of the saddle.

Although he is well into his older years, he is still relatively sound for riding and working under saddle, he can get a bit stiff during the cold winter months, but nothing some supplements and the occasional intramuscular injection won't fix. For this reason, Eisbear is primarily worked and ridden during forestry excursions and searches he isn't used too much for cattle and rodeo work like back in his younger years.

Quirks / Extra:
➢ Not a friendly horse to pet when he is "working", he will pin his ears and move away.
➢ Does not enjoy sheath cleaning in the slightest (and neither does K.D tbh)
It ends up being more of an "I'll hold the hose on you and stand 10 feet away" kind of ordeal. Probably the only time Bear will throw a hoof in his rider's direction. can't blame him tbh
➢ Needs a high fiber and high caloric diet, lots of soaked alfalfa cubes and fat supplements.
➢ Does not seem to enjoy winter that much due to frequent sore and stiffness.

Dayuuum this dude is looking strapping for his age. Such a powerhouse! THAT COLOUR cannot have been easy to shade, but you really pulled it off! Light/greyish horses really are the hardest to shade x)

Thanks so much Zoub!
Older horses need love too hehe c; I have personally known 20+ year old, almost 30-year-old horses how rodeo and do all sorts of events, very well keeping up with the youngsters! SUCH A GORGEOUS COLOR,, BUT INDEED HELL TO COLOR/SHADE.
let's just say I had to use a lot of splatter/dirt brushes for the markings haha! and yes grey horses are so tricky! You certainly mastered the art of them though, especially with Swagadir and Stein's mount!
