Description Another series to scratch off my bucket list! even before starting HARPG, I always wanted to do these
series.
Tilapia and Rae shall be my guinea pigs for this! c;

oh poor Tilapia, she was having the grandest time hanging out with her sweet sire Garden Scene  (here) and
Tag You Are It  (here)! Only to be pulled away to begin her weaning, humans are so cruel!
- - - - -

Horse Participating:

Handler / "Trainer":
Raleigh Saunders

MANDATORY TRAINING:

1.1. Weaning from the Mother = [You're here!]
1.2. First time eating hay in a separate box
2. Wearing a Halter
3. To be lead
4. Accepting the feel of a blanket
5. Foal Inspection

(short sappy, dumb story, apologies from the grammar and awkwardness o-(--(  ;; )

"Look how miserable she is! what have I done!" the distraught blonde mewled out, her hands flying to instinctively touch her cheeks nervously.

Clouds of tan dust roamed freely around the wooden cattle pen, a couple of stray flecks of dirt spilling from the top rail as the silver bay filly furiously tore through the thick footing. Snorting feverishly, she beckoned one last pained wail as if this was going to bring back her father, all the way from South Africa.

Weaning was always the most difficult stepping stone when it came to working with youngsters.
A step, Rae was never truly fond of herself, as her blue eyes stuck to the blurry mass of a brown and white, storm past her behind the fence. Tilapia, was surely proving to be a bit of a difficult project right from the start. Raleigh was blessed having two easier projects previously, (being Rome' and Jitterbug ), the two young boys were fairly mild in comparison to these erratic bay gal. It was evident that this little one was surely going to try her skills..skills she severely doubted she even had in the first place, as she frantically began chewing on her nails.

Her mom would kill her for chewing off her expensive manicure from earlier, but dear hell, she didn't give two damns at the moment. Although it was scientifically proven biting one's nails was a very good way to get hook worms.
More mortified at the latter thought, she ceased her wretched habit immediately.

But then again, if she were to come down with a serious parasite affliction she wouldn't have to continue her work with Tilapia. Sure she might be hospitalized (about a 55.8% risk to be exact), but that would just mean Josef would be back from his winter adventure and around to help by the time she got better. She always hated doing things on her own, thanks to her vast amount of self doubt and anxiety. Rae squinted at her nails once more, taking a calculated risk as she ever so slowly began to raise what was left of her polished nails back up to her lips.

"Oh yuck! You might as well start dippin' with the amount of crude that might be under those nails!"

In sync, both the blonde and white-haired filly jumped at least two feet from the sudden loud voice.
A strawberry blonde gal, named Nellie ;  was approaching the pen, a teasing child-like smile on her face as she casually strode over to stand next to a rather flustered Raleigh, her lean figure leaning against the fence as she quizzically glanced at the
gaunt bay.

Standing, all four feet splayed underneath her with the grace of Bambi slipping on ice, the youngster's side heaved rapidly, her once beautifully groomed gleaming coat, now coated with vast amounts of fine particulate, mud splatted all the way up to her knees and hocks. Her large brown doe like eyes trembling and looking at the two, two-leggeds with pure distress.

"Wowie, she sure knows how to make you feel like an asshole huh?" Nellie added bluntly, as the filly snorted indigently before slowly walking away from the pair.

"Don't remind me...I'm already having regrets even agreeing to do this. "

"Aw, now don't say that. Yeah, this step really sucks without a doubt, but it gets better."

Silence only met Nellie's response, as Rae continued to stare at perturbed filly.

"I'm not..ready..I'm never ready..I...just.."

Unable to continue her sentence, she trailed off, as her eyes darted to the ground her shoulders slumping as she leaned against the pole.

The strawberry blonde paused for a moment, her eyebrows furrowing a bit in concern and confusion. Honestly,
she couldn't understand where such self-defeat came from, nobody around the ranch could. Raleigh never gave
enough credit to herself, it was quite evident she was a fairly accomplished rider, skillfully galloping into the wind barebacked, jumping poles, running barrels with only a rope around her mount's neck. She had a certain way with animals, even the vet she worked for praised her for her methods of handling frightened cats and dogs, yet here
she was, beating herself up once more. How could she possibly feel this way about herself?

"Hey, don't throw in the towel just yet. You're only getting started here.. I mean, it's not your fault,
Tilapia was bound to be removed from her parents at some point. It's much easier that it's now and not later."

Turning her head once more, she watched the filly start to tire, working her little jaw nervously, she glanced at Rae once more. Curiously inspecting the blonde, almost sensing her mood change.

"This is just the first step. She needs to learn to become your horse, and you need to learn to become her teacher, friend, and mother. Oberatuers are different from most breeds. Sure, they will have their challenges, but when you win them over, damned, if they don't just work their heart out for you."

She smiled, playfully punching Rae on her bicep.
"I think you two are going to be a great pair, she is sensitive and intuitive, just like her "mom"."

"I just..still don't know. What if I can't do it? What if I mess her up?"

Nel snorts, shaking her head at her response.
"I don't think that's going to be a problem with you, to be honest, I think you have more of a chance messing up
by just dropping everything right now and leaving."

Rae lifted her head, her face full of confusion at the other's answer.

"Raleigh, you owe it to yourself, and her, seeing this whole thing through. You never learn if you don't take on additional risk and change things around. You can't stick to your comfort zone forever, I mean what's the fun in that?"

Raleigh found herself nodding slightly in agreement, Nel did make a valid point. She already agreed to take this young
foal under her wing, there was no backing out now. Giving up would hurt her pride a lot more than making mistakes during training. At least she would be able to learn from them, unlike if she were to just give up.

Hooves sifting through the heavy sand plodded towards her, before hearing the source clambered up on the wooden fence, a quiet breath in her ear. Slowly Rae turned her head, only to be met face to face with the Tippa, who seemed to half climb the fence in an attempt to see her. A small smile worked on her lips, as she softly stroked the filly's sweating neck.

"See? Look at that, she is already wanting your attention, ready to work on the next step. Now quit, you bitchin'
and get to work. " Nellie teased, slapping her on the back.

"With all that motivational talk, I think I'm going to work with my own Ober myself. See you around, maybe we can train together sometime." She grinned, waving to the two as she started back down the dirt path towards the barn.

Raleigh quickly turned back towards the receding woman, quickly trying to say something with some sort of meaning after all of Nell's helpful words. "N-Neliah!"

"Sup?" She paused for a second, to glance back.

"..Thank you."

A grin played on the young woman's features, she as she flicked her wrist at Rae.

"Nah, no worries. Just promise to keep your word or else I'll come looking for you. "
She teased once more, although the thought of having someone as high-strung as Nellie, hot on your heels,
was enough to put some spring into one's step.

"Yeah, got it."
Rae nodded, but for some reason she found herself smiling at the threat.

Closer detail of 1st (main) piece:

oh dear Tippa is such a drama queen.. running herself up into a hot, sweaty, muddy mess.
she is very much a daddy's girl, and took it pretty hard when they had to part ways.
Trying to make her dear handler feel as guilty as possible (and it worked ofc), as Rae cried over this later whilst
sobbingly eating a chocolate bar for comfort.

I wanted to try something a little different when it came to doing the first picture, I felt like the first picture was
a little too lacking to start things off, so some silly doodles were adding at the bottom to provide a little more
entertainment!

enjoy Tippa running around crying animu-esque tears while trying to seek some sort of comfort
from Senpai-ette.
